Welcome to the Department of Computer Science at Tennessee Technological University. The department offers Bachelor degrees with concentrations in Information Technology and Software & Scientific Applications. We also offers a Master's degree.

Outside of the classroom, students have opportunities to work with faculty on a variety of research projects and participate with our ACM and ACM-W student chapters.

Information Concerning Computing Resources for Fall 2011

The Computer Science department no longer has a computer lab with desktop computers in it. We have moved to a cloud-based laboratory environment that will be available to students via personal laptops or other computers. Instructions and tutorials for accessing these new resources will be made available online and through presentations early in the semester.

We are requiring all students in CSC 2101, CSC 2111, CSC 2121, CSC 2500, CSC 3550, and CSC 3560 to have personal laptops. If you already have a laptop, it is likely to be adequate. If you are going to purchase a laptop, suggested guidelines for new laptops can be found on our website by following this link:

Questions regarding this laptop initiative should be directed to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

For students in other computer science classes, it would be helpful to own your own computer, but students will be able to use Remote Desktop (from any computer, including other computer labs on campus) to access the resources needed to complete assignments for the classes. Again, instructions and tutorials for accessing these new resources will be made available online and through presentations early in the semester.

There will also be a helpdesk to help answer questions regarding laptops and accessing lab resources.
