Computer Science Research at TTU

Research Groups

  1. Computer Science Education: developing and studying tools and techniques to improving the teaching of computer science
  2. Distributed & Net-Centric Computing: developing and studying tools and algorithms in the areas of VoIP/SIP and the Semantic Web
  3. Machine Learning and Knowledge Discovery: developing and studying tools and algorithms in the areas of data mining and machine learning.

Major Research Projects

  • Drizzle & DIODE: a programming language and integrated development environment designed to reinforce early programming skills using Lego Mindstorms
  • Intelligent Triage Tool: a collaboration with Duke University to develop and evaluate a tool to incorporate supervised learning techniques into the process of trauma triage
  • Voice over IP and Session Initiation Protocol
  • Volunteer e-Health Initiative: subcontract with Vanderbilt University to aid in testing the feasibility and utility of a Regional Health Information Organization in the Memphis area
